Join our #ConnectedChristmas campaign
With Covid-19 restrictions being reintroduced, we want to make sure that everybody can stay close and connected with their loved ones this Christmas.
The digital divide is a reality for too many people. 1.5 million households in the UK lack internet access at home and around 10 million people in the UK do not have the very basic digital skills to use it.
With Covid-19 restrictions being reintroduced last month and the possibility that there could be more to follow, we want to make sure that everybody can stay close and connected with their loved ones this Christmas. That is why we are running our #ConnectedChristmas campaign.
We recently launched our Connect Up project which aims to reach 17,500 older people who have been digitally and socially excluded during the pandemic. We’re equipping them with the digital skills needed to make and maintain meaningful connections with others, thanks to generous funding from the Scheinberg Relief Fund.
However, we know there is still so much to be done.
How can you support a #ConnectedChristmas?
We’re asking that you use your social media platforms to share our social media images, using the hashtag #ConnectedChristmas.
You can also support us by encouraging others to donate to Good Things Foundation so we can continue our work to fix the digital divide.
In our Blueprint to fix the digital divide, we outlined the steps that need to be taken to eliminate digital exclusion:
- Digital skills
- Community support
- Affordable internet for all, with no one left behind.
In order to achieve these demands and do more work like Connect Up, we need your support. Your donations could allow us to help more people to get online this Christmas, reducing social isolation and loneliness. Help connect people this Christmas by donating today.
