Spring Budget 2023: Good Things Foundation responds

Today the Chancellor has set out the Spring Budget, committing to provide funding to charity organisations and introduce new digital technology. Our Group CEO, Helen Milner OBE responds to the financial update:

“We welcome the Chancellor’s announcement of £100m funding for charities and community organisations. Members of the National Digital Inclusion Network have fought tirelessly to support people with the cost of living crisis – all whilst battling with higher costs themselves.

We hope it will enable charities and community organisations to sustain their work, including to fix the digital divide for good.

“This is a budget which recognises the importance of digital technology, but falls woefully short of the mark on digital inclusion.

“We need a new Digital Inclusion Strategy for the UK led by the Government. We need immediate action and investment to co-fund digital inclusion and skills. Without this, people in urgent need of support will be unable to benefit from Government investment in critical areas, such as digital mental health services.”
